After leaving government service, Dr Tan established a medical practice which was appointed by Singapore’s Ministry of Health as an official Anonymous Testing Site for HIV. Over time, the practice expanded into a multi-clinic medical group, with Dr Tan serving in a leadership role. In 2020, he stepped down from this position to focus on direct patient care and clinical work and research related to STD/HIV and men’s health , including circumcision procedures and medical treatments for erectile dysfunction . Dr Tan is currently in private practice at Novena Medical Centre, where he focuses on patient-centred care, clinical innovation and the advancement of Men’s Health. Dr Tan’s clinical and academic work centres on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of common and complex infections, long-term viral care and public-health strategy, as well as male sexual function. His interests include evidence-based approaches to sexual performance, advanced circumcision techniques and chronic wound management. He was an author of Singapore’s Community Blueprint to End HIV Transmission and AIDS by 2030 and contributed to national guidance on pre-exposure prophylaxis published in the Singapore Medical Journal .
